About The Getaway

 

The Morocco Getaway is for women who are looking to explore an exotic location together while making lifetime friendships with like minded people.

 

This is an active trip that will have you exploring all over Southern Morocco, with an optional add-on to view the famous blue city of  Chefchaouen. The trip is fully hosted and includes all accommodation, meals, transportation, guides and activities, so all you need to do is arrive and enjoy the experience with your fellow female travelers!

 

The trip will be hosted by Becky van Dijk, one of the founders of We Are Travel Girls. It will be her third time to Morocco and she is excited to experience it again with a group of travel loving women!

Who Is The Trip For?

The Morocco Getaway is for the adventurous female traveller looking to explore a new destination and make lifelong friends!

The Morocco Getaway will show you the best of Marrakech and surrounding areas over 8 days and 7 nights. Stay in five star Riads,  spend the night under the stars at a luxurious desert camp, see the ancient wonders of Kasbah, and more.

You will also be exploring Morocco with like minded women from all over the world. The only thing better than traveling to an exotic location is doing it with a group of friends who will feel like family by the end of the week!

Accomodation

You will be staying in true five-star luxury accommodation throughout the trip!

This includes one of the most prestigious hotels, or “Riads”, in all of Marrakech, a luxury Sahara Desert camp experience, and a breathtaking stay near UNESCO World Heritage site Kasbah Ait Benhaddou.

Each accommodation option has been carefully chosen for their unique character, wonderful service, and luxurious comforts found in only the best locations in Morocco!

Food & Drink

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included, so you don’t need to bring anything besides your appetite. We will eat some of the best cuisine in Morocco, from local markets to gourmet restaurants! Highlights include:

  • Scenic drive to Kasbah with a stop in the Valley of Roses
  • Relaxing Hammam and Spa Treatment at the Riad

Northern Morocco Extension

In case you are looking to experience even more of Morocco, we offer an optional 3 day add on after the main itinerary to visit the famous Chefchaouen Blue City and Rabat!

If one week is not enough for you, Experience Morocco has 3-Night Northern Excursion that you can add to the end of your trip. You will spend two nights in the Chefchaouen, a location made famous by it’s amazing blue colors throughout the city. Get lost in the winding streets of this mountain village, and be sure to bring your favorite blue dress to fit in as we will have a professional photo-shoot here! The third day and night will be in Rabat, Moroccos capital city where you will get end your Moroccan adventure!

In collaboration with Travel Girls Getaways, Experience Morocco has used their insider knowledge to create the perfect itinerary for our trip!

Sample Itinerary

On this getaway we want to show you the best of Morocco and each day we will take you on an amazing excursion:

Day 1 – Arrive: Guests arrive at the airport in Marrakech and we will begin our journey out of the city towards the desert. We will spend the evening at Ksar Ighnda in Ouarzazate where we will get to know each other at a special welcome dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 2 – Erg Lihoudi Desert: We will leave the hotel early morning and begin our journey towards the desert. You will enjoy a beautiful drive through the High Atlas Mountains on our way to the desert for a night of luxury glamping! We will take a camel ride out to the camp and enjoy an evening under the stars beside a campfire listening to traditional music.

 

Day 3 – 5 – Marrakech: We say goodbye to our luxury camp and head to Marrakech. Along the way we will stop for lunch at a traditional berber village and visit the stunning Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the set for many famous movies scenes. We will end the day at the stunning Le Maison Arabe Hotel in Marrakech which will be our home for the next few nights. Highlights of our time in Marrakech include lunch at the famous La Mammounia hotel, visits to Bahia Palace, Koutoubia and Saadian tombs, Tagine Cooking class and exploring the souks.

Day 6 – 7 Essaouira: We leave Marrakech in the morning to journey to Essaouira. We will spend two days exploring the pretty town of Essaouira with a guided tour of the medina, port and ramparts. We will enjoy lunch at La Fromagerie and a visit to Argan Oil Cooperative. After a busy day exploring we will go back to the hotel for a hammam spa experience.

 

Day 8 – Departure: In the morning have our final group breakfast, reflect on the amazing week we had together, and then we will head back to Marrakech and say our goodbyes!

 

Day 9 – 11 (optional – additional cost): Northern Morocco: Explore the famous Blue City of Chefchaouen, complete with a luxurious riad stay, meals in some special local secrets, and a professional photo shoot to create enough Instagram photos to have your feed set for the next year! Finally, end the trip in Moroccos capitla city Rabat for the last day and night of the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

CAN I COME SOLO?

Absolutely! The trip is an opportunity to connect with a group of women from all over the world and make new and lasting friendships. The majority of our trip guests come solo.

HOW MUCH FREE TIME IS THERE?

There are several afternoons of free time in the itinerary that you can use to relax at the hotel, go out to explore or go shopping. Of course, all daily activities are optional so you are welcome to skip something in favour of some down time!

ARE THERE SINGLE OCCUPANCY ROOMS?

Yes, there are some single occupancy rooms available for an additional cost of around US $750 based on availability. All other rooms are shared occupancy with one other female guest. Each room has two beds, either two single beds or one double and one single bed.

DO I NEED A VISA FOR MOROCCO?

A visa may be required to travel to Morocco. It is your responsibility to check the visa requirements based on your country of original / nationality and to obtain the correct visa for your trip. Morocco does offer visa-free travel for stays of up to 90 days for many countries.

WHAT IS THE ACTIVITY LEVEL?

This is a very active trip and there will be lots of walking and exploring. The activities themselves are not strenuous and we have drivers throughout who take us between the hotels, restaurants and to our activities.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Experience Morocco will send an information pack with FAQ’s to you around 1 month before the trip. If you have specific questions about what to bring these can be answered at any time – just drop us an email: [email protected]

Will Becky Host The Northern Extension?

If there are more than 4 guests who book the Norther Extension then Becky will join to host this part of the trip. Otherwise you will be joined by other guests and the Experience Morocco team who will run the trip and be your guides.

If you are interested in the Norther Extension, please detail this in ‘Anything Else To Add’ section on the booking form and the team at Experience Morocco will provide all the details of this part of the trip and the price to you.

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?

Once your application is received and your booking confirmed a non-refundable 30% deposit is due immediately to secure your place on the retreat. The balance of the payment is due 2 months before the retreat start date.

IS THERE A MINIMUM GUEST NUMBER?

Yes. We require a minimum of 8 guests to run this trip. As per the Terms & Conditions, if the running of the trip is not deemed financially viable we reserve the right to cancel the retreat. In this situation you will be refunded all monies paid to Experience Morocco. However, we will not reimburse any travel costs or flights already booked.

WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENT IS AVAILABLE?

Once your booking is confirmed we will send you a link to a secure payment page to make the first payment for the deposit directly to Experience Morocco. Payments will be made via the WeTravel Payment System, which allows the use of a major credit card or bank transfer. We will then send you a reminder and payment link when the balance is due.

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Yes. You are responsible for obtaining your own travel insurance cover. We recommend and require that you purchase travel insurance at the point of  booking your spot on a Travel Girls Getaway. This is in order that you are insured should unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending the trip.

One option is World Nomads. However, it is your responsibility to research travel insurance companies in your location and select an insurer that suits your needs and coverage requirements.

DO YOU CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Once your place is booked Experience Morocco will send out a guest information form requesting information such as dietary requirements. We will do our best to accommodate all dietary requirements for meals in the hotels and at the restaurants.

HOW WILL WE GET AROUND?

We will have an air conditioned mini bus for the duration of the trip with our guide to take us from place to place. Please note Morocco is a big country and this tour does include some long driving days when we make our way out to the desert camp!

Next steps: Once you submit your booking form we will email to confirm receipt of the form and to arrange a phone conversation. Once we complete the phone call, which is an opportunity for you to ask any further questions about the trip we will confirm your reservation and send you a link to the secure payment page from Experience Morocco.
